Holden

Holden, Massachusetts, is a town in Worcester County, approximately 35 miles west of Boston and just north of Worcester. Established in 1741, it was named after Samuel Holden, a director of the Bank of England. The town encompasses about 36 square miles, characterized by rolling hills and rivers, including the Quinapoxet. As of the 2020 census, Holden’s population was 19,905. It is part of the five-town Wachusett Regional School District, sharing facilities like the newly renovated Wachusett Regional High School with neighboring towns. Holden also hosts Holden Christian Academy, a private school serving preschool through eighth grade. The Holden Public Library, first opened in 1888, continues to serve as a cultural hub for the community. ​
